Thursdays 5:30-8:30pm 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/18

Challenge yourself by throwing big! In this course you will learn how to create large scale pottery on the wheel by using the sectional throwing technique. You will throw a pot in at least 2 sections and learn how to seamlessly attach them together creating a piece bigger then you would have been able to throw in one piece.

Class Materials

Clay - one 25lb bag of clay is provided. students get a choice of mid-fire white or midrange oxidation with manganese. any additional clay can be purchased during class.

Glaze - glaze is not provided, students will need to purchase their own glaze

Class Overview

• Day 1: Sketch and plan out your big pot, Demo and supported work time to throw bottom section of 2 part pot

• Day 2: Demo and supported work time to throw top section of 2 part pot

• Day 3: Demo and supported work time attaching pot together and trimming

• Day 4: optional glaze and critique, there will be snacks!

Age Requirement: This class is suitable for student ages 16 and older.
